| Sacrifice (continued): Sara reads through the book, and discovers more about Cathain's story, particularly about the original sacrifices made to summon Cathain. First an older woman, then Cathain's own sister, Dierdre ~ killed twice with cord and stone dagger. Unfortunately the last page is ripped out, which, according to Irons, includes the death of Conchobar ~ which throws Sara off a bit. Back at the station, Dante congratulates Jake on his work with the body thief ~ he has no problem with Jake using a little extra force. Meanwhile, Sara visits Conchobar backstage, and he tells her he's finished the Legend of Cathain. No one's heard it ~ unless they were at the sound check. As he sings, Sara realizes who the next victim is: | |||||||||

| Sara runs out of the club, and, while on her motorcycle, radios Jake to let him in on what's happening. She tells him whe believes Iona will be killed in one of the altars he's already used; she'll take the first site, Jake can take the second. Meanwhile, Brian has approached Iona, who still believes he's just a sweet, misunderstood guy, and she goes with him when he says he wants to talk about "the Savior". She quickly realizes how wrong she was, when Brian drags her into a place that gives her "the creeps" ~ the scene of the first crime ~ and ties her to the altar, crying and struggling. Sara reaches the warehouse and the bracelet morphs into the gauntlet, enabling her to break in. Past and present merge as scenes from the original sacrifices flicker with that of Brian raising the dagger over Iona. Just then Sara bursts in, saying she is the one he seeks. He doesn't believe her at first, but then she says she's there so he can learn to fight, as she trained Conchobar. As she moves towards him, she is alternately Sara and Cathain, in ancient armor. Sare says to spare Iona; when he hesitates she commands it. Brian starts lowering his arms and begins to hand the dagger to Sara. Ian is watching from an upstairs loft, and an unknown person is holding a gun is a shadowy doorway on the main floor. Just as the dagger passes from Brian to Sara, a bullet is fired from the unknown person, straight into Brian's heart. Sara is shocked, but acts quickly to release Iona, and they both take shelter behind the altar. Sara looks up and sees Ian ~ he actually seems sad, his eyes mournful. Sara goes after the person who fired as Jake shows up; she checks his gun ~ he didn't fire it. Sara does find a bullet shell ~ a gold casing with a black bull etched into it. Just like the one she found in the box left for her by her dad. At Talisman later, Bowman tells her about Elizabeth Bronte ~ she was the SS soldier's (Rolf Goermin) mistress, and as an Allied spy, helped break the Engima code's hold ~ which was instrumental in winning the war. Gabriel finds something else bizarre, and he shows her a picture of Bronte and her lover. Of course, as Sara knows already, she and Elizabeth Bronte are practically twins, but she has no explanation for him. The last we see, Conchobar is serenading an enchanted Sara. | |||||||||
| I had a small problem with Legion ~ my cable was out the whole day on the 10th, so I was unable to watch it. This makes it very difficult to write a detailed description. :) So I asked for people to help me out, and these two lovely ladies replied. The first reveiw is from Lark and the second from Regina. I'm sure you'll enjoy them as much as I did, and I thank them both for coming to my rescue! | |||||||||
| Thanks to Lark! Episode 5 (7/10/01) Legion: In a night-dimmed church, a priest recites his vows, praying for guidance. Amid the flicker of the vigil candles, he fervently asks that the burden of what he must do be passed on to someone else; he seems resolute that the work must be his, but something seems to be troubling him, it is not something he wants to do, he does not feel like he can, or perhaps he only feels he cannot do it alone. As he prays, a chill breeze blows out the flames of the candles; the priest turns to face the darkness and he is struck down. The religious icons on the walls weep. In the morning, an elderly woman comes into the church, the morning light streaming through the stained glass windows, and she approaches the priest, saying it's almost time for mass. Uncertainly, she touches his shoulder, and seeing the blood on the back of his head and the drying trickle that runs down his face, she backs away horrified, screaming for help. Vorschlag News releases a bulletin that a boy, Edward Nolan, suspected of killing the priest, Father Bellamy, is being chased by the police. The report continues that the boy has a history of criminal activity and mental illness. Behind a building, the boy is on a fire escape, and falls into a pile of trash near a dumpster. He backs down the alley away from the street, and Jake is behind him in a cruiser: Jake draws his weapon, warning the boy to freeze, as Sara, from the driver's side, also draws her weapon. Edward Nolan heads for the street, where another cruiser appears. Captain Dante is on the fire escape over the alley, reporting the boy's location. As Nolan is surrounded, Dante orders his force to be prepared to shoot. Sara sees images from the Witchblade of violence. The boy turns to Sara and Jake and screams his name is Legion. Dante orders them to fire on the boy, and Sara breaks cover, while everyone withdraws their weapons, stunned by her reckless behavior. As Sara knocks Nolan down, more images of fire and violence flash through her mind. The boy lunges up at her for just a moment, and his eyes glow with an eerie yellow light. Vorschlag News reports that the boy was cornered and captured by one officer, Sara Pezzini. Kenneth Irons watches the bulletin on his network, and declares quietly Sara is becoming bold. Ian Nottingham is behind him, eyes downcast, and wonders what else should she be? Irons reiterates it's not that she should have fear, but that she should not lose her life incautiously. Nottingham asks if the Witchblade would allow her to make such a fatal mistake, and Irons imperiously responds Nottingham should not question what the Witchblade will or will not allow. [Perhaps Irons does not know the answer either?] Continued on next page |
