Sacrifice (continued): No surprise ~ Ian is already at the club. Observing. Something happens between Sara and the attractive Irishman singing ~ Conchobar ~ some recognition or attraction. As the song comes to an end, to cheers and applause, he steps off the stage, and makes his way directly to Sara, who's now seated at the bar.
"Good song."
"Good band. I know you."
"Sara Pezzini.
Now you know me."
"No, we've met. We'll figure out where." He sits next to her at the bar. As they start to talk, a pretty young blonde girl, whose been enjoying the performance ~ and the singer ~ for a time, interrupts them, and he tells her it's very rude to come between a man and his wife. Sara takes it in stride. The poor girl, embarrassed, flutters away back to her drink ~ which has been drugged by a passer-by. Sara asks Conchobar about the symbol, tells him about the murder, but he doesn't directly answer her questions. Instead he goes back on stage, and sings his newest, but unfinished, song. It's about an ancient legend. "Tragic, like all things Irish."  This is what he sings:
Bid Goddess rise, from mists of memory
Rise, the fair Cathain
In battle the equal of every man
And every lover disdained
Her heart was locked in a roundtower's keep
And none that gate could unbar
Till rose a prince from Ulster's east
The hero Conchobar

A suitor's troth he brought Cathain
In wild Connemar'
He bade her teach him feats of arms
And the bloody arts of war
And what, said she, will you teach me
Who dwells here all alone?
The pleasures of love, said Conchobar
I will melt your heart of stone.

So King and warrior thus were joined
In battles blood and love
The throne belonged to Conchobar
To Cathain, the Witch's Glove
The world soon turned his heart away
So back to Connemar'
She westward rode to dwell alone
Away from Conchobar

Dark rivals rose against the king
To challenge for his throne
All Ulster in the balance hung
Without its champion
A Druid he sent to sacrifice
An offering to Cathain
A maiden fair, with flaxen hair
Not once, but two times slain
As he sings, the young blonde girl is being killed ~ twice. Strangled, then stabbed with the dagger, by the hooded man. Next we see Sara waking up from a dream ~ she and Conchobar, dressed in medieval clothing, sparring with swords. At the office, Dante tells her the case (they haven't discovered the blonde girl's body yet) is, at best, body theft, since the victim was already dead, a homeless Jane Doe stolen from the morgue. Right after she leaves Dante's office, Irons calls her and says he has information about the case. Upon her arrival, Nottingham shows her into a empty room ~ the only thing of note in the room is the old book Kenneth had been reading during the first crime ~ and tells her Irons will join her shortly. Sara sees the book, and starts to read it ~ in Gaelic and English!  It's the story of Cathain and Conchobar. Irons interrupts and seems amused that she's able to read Gaelic. He also tells her that Cathain was a Bladewielder, and that an unscrupulous Druid might be trying fulfill a legend ~ summoning Cathain with human sacrifice will cause the Gaelic people to regain their former glory. He also tells her to be careful ~ it's a tragic story, and "you know what they say about history."  The body of Debra Mason, the young blonde girl, is found, as well as Conchobar's symbol. Sara tells Jake to go to the morgue, check on the stolen body; it was sold to the murderer. She goes after Conchobar. She finds him at his apartment alone. [Note: Nice opportunity to show off Kim De Lury's chest, btw. Good chest.] She tells him about the murder, and how these crimes seem to be mirroring his song. He says he doesn't know the rest of the song yet, but, after she asks, tells her that "the witch's glove" he sings about is part of Cathain's legend. She wore a gauntlet that made her invincible. Meanwhile, Jake's found his body thief ~ a morgue attendant named Vaughn. Jake is unnecessarily rough with Mr. Vaughn, and Dante is his audience. Sara brings Conchobar in, but Vaughn is unable to identify him. He insists that he never saw the guy's face; he chose not to. The best thing he can do is give them a general description. Sara and Jake release Conchobar, but Sara follows him; he knows she's there and loses her. [Wierd little man sighting: outside the police station when Sara arrives the next morning]  The next day, in their office, Sara tells Jake she lost the singer; he gives her an attitude. Sara then tells him, with eyebrow arched, that she then proceeded to Conchobar's apartment, where he did show up shortly after, went in, alone, and apparently went to bed ~ alone. Jake has the grace to look slightly embarassed, then points out that both warehouses were the crimes took place are guarded by the same security company, maybe even the same guard ~ Brian ~ who fits the general description Vaughn gave him. The partners split up again ~ Jake goes to check on Brian, Sara goes back to Irons' place to look at the Gaelic book again. Down in the warehouse area, Jake talks to Iona, who quickly senses the reason for Jake's pointed interest in Brian and defends him ~ although Brian has quit and hasn't picked up his last check.
