| Episode 1~ Parallax (continued): After a game of cat and mouse, Ian is trapped and knocked out. Mobius gets into Irons' penthouse, and has Ian and Kenneth tied up, while he threatens them with a flame-thrower ~ his execution method of choice for the two men. Sara is brought to Irons' home by the Witchblade (and the cell phone Ian manages to open and speed dial), stops him before he can barbeque the billionaire and his minion, and kills Moby with the Blade. As he dies, he says cyrptically "You got the wrong dragon." With head bowed and on one knee, after he releases Irons, Ian thanks Sara; at first she thinks he means for saving his life; instead he's thanking her for finishing his job. This episode ends with Sara sitting at her kitchen table, choosing not to open a small wooden box Joe Siri had given her earlier (a bequest from her father) which may hold information about her biological parents. | |||||||

| Episode 2 (6/19/01):~ Conundrum: As several beautiful girls pose at a photo shoot ~ where the woman in charge apparently has a thing for snakes ~ a man dressed all in black, with a hook instead of one hand, carefully poses skeletal remains under a park overpass. Sara is called at the station by this man, who tells her there's been a murder. At the snowy scene, Sara and Jake are puzzled by the bizarre spectacle: a blonde skeleton, posed in the white powder. Sara sees a tongue bolt in the mouth of the skull, in shape of a cobra, and she knows who the body is from a missing person's report. Jake notices odd holes in the snow before they leave. The MP report takes them to the modeling agency, and it's owner, Dominique Boucher, who filed the report. She is about forty, blonde and beautiful; she?s also the woman who is fascinated by snakes. The missing girl is one of her models, Gina Maris, one who was very close to her; in fact Dominique is the one who gave the girl that cobra tongue bolt. She seems surprised when she is told that seeing the body wouldn?t help to identify it, but lets them see photos of Gina instead. One of them is the same crouching pose that the remains were found in; Sara is certain their skeleton is this model. Dominique tells them that the girl?s roommate could probably help, and she pulls her out of the shoot. As the pretty blonde girl, Karen Bronte, approaches, her eyes widen first after a look at Sara, then at something over Sara?s shoulder ~ Ian, who has been dispatched by Irons to keep an eye out on Sara (?She?s in danger, find her...watch over her?). Sara and Jake take off after him, but lose him, of course. Sara gets there first, and sees a little girl for a second, beforeJake joins her, then the little girl is gone Also, Sara has noticed that a painting in Dominique Boucher?s office features a woman wearing the Witchblade bracelet! Sara and Jake visit the coroner, Vicki Poe, who tells them that obviously the bones were cleaned in some kind of caustic liquid, but aside from it being possibly hydrochloric in nature, she cannot be more specific. Also, more strangely, the bones seem to have been crushed ~ there are stress fractures in many of them. Sara notices an empty liquor bottle behind Vicki, and asks Jake to meet her later. She tells her friend Vicki that she can understand the pressure that might drive her to want to blur things a little, but if the job is getting to her too much, she should get help or get out of it. Vicki thanks her, but tells Sara she?s coping. Not wanting to push more, Sara leaves. Sara and Jake see Karen at her apartment, and as they enter, the model cannot stop staring at Sara, who gets pissed off and finally asks why she?s looking at her like that. Instead of answering Karen goes to her mantel, and gets a large photo. It?s black and white, and appears to be Sara with a little blonde girl ~ the same little girl Sara had seen on the roof. Sara is puzzled, and asks who the woman is, and Karen tells her ?My grandmother. The little girl is my mother? Her grandmother's name was Elizabeth, and she was "some kind of spy." Her work got her killed. Sara leaves Jake to ?babysit? Karen while she goes to check out the picture. During her investigation, Sara finds a picture of Dominique Boucher, taken in 1959, in which she is holding a snake reverently, but appears only a little younger?and an ever youthful Kenneth Irons is standing next to her. As usual since crossing paths with the Witchblade, all roads lead to Irons, so Sara seeks him out. He tells her about Dominique, a former lover whom he had allowed many years before to try to wear the Witchblade. He said that as a non-designated wielder, the Blade had scrambled Dominique?s head about a bit, before discarding her. As did he, apparently. Later on, Sara sits in her apartment, looking at the photo?and she decides to open the wooden box Joe Siri had given her, saying it might have some clue about her biological family. A gold casing, what looks like a gold bullet case drops to the coffee table, as Sara says her gun is right by her hand. Ian steps out, and ultimately tells her ?Cher-chez la femme? [?Seek the woman? the literal translation]. In the meantime, Jake and Karen have decided to shoot some pool and flirt a bit. Jake notices a man at the table next to them with a shiny silver hook in place of his hand he?s aiming his cue stick through. The discovery scene, particularly the strange holes in the snow flash in his head, and he realizes what the holes were ~ indentations of the hook where the man had supported himself while re-constructing the skeleton. Jake goes to question the man, but he?s hit by the man, and gets a puncture in his hand. He brings Karen home, and she asks him to stay. At first, he?s a gentleman and a professional, and says no, with regret. He starts to walk away, then says to himself, ?What, am I nuts??, and goes back. He knocks on the door and says it?s Jake, but gets knocked out as she opens the door. Everything goes black?Karen wakes up in a basement. She is chained to a hook, standing in a large metal tub. There is a huge snake in the basement with her?and it is moving into the tub. Meanwhile Sara has been talking to Vicki (who was asleep at her desk), and in Vicki?s opinion, the first girl was killed by a snake ~ her bones constricted enough to crack and digested. When Sara scoffs, Vicki shoots right back that it was either a snake, or someone went to the trouble of squeezing her in a carpet roller and then soaking her a vat of stomach-like acid. Jake has tracked down the man with the hook, whose name is John Sandsman, and gets him to say it was Dominique Boucher who had him kill the first girl and take Karen. [Jake was quite tough ~ he pushed the guy up against a wall, held a gun to his head, and said that between the puncture on his hand and the contusion on his head, it would be easy to say that the bad guy had attacked him and that Jake had shot him in sef-defense.] Sara is already on her way to Dominique?s place. Karen Bronte is a blood heir to the Witchblade, which has made her Dominique's target. Sara and Dominique fight, but after seeing Karen's plight ~ the girl is visible on a monitor in the room since Dominique apparently is psychotic enough to want to watch her being killed by the snake ~ Sara offers the Witchblade bracelet to Dominique in exchange for Karen ~ and throws it to her. Dominique puts the bracelet on, it changes into the gauntlet and she tries to strike Sara, but she cannot ~ the blade will not hit Sara. Sara says ?You serve me - tighten.? [At that point, I yelled "You go, girl!"] The gauntlet tightens, enough to crush Dominique?s forearm beyond repair. She collapses and Sara retrieves the Witchblade, and then finds Karen ~ the snake has slithered away, and they actually find a carpet roller and several drums of toxic chemicals in the room. Sara visits Dominque in jail, hoping for answers, but Irons' ex-lover refuses to give her any satisfaction ~ except for the fact that Dominique has aged, apparently to her chronological age. Sometime later, Jake and Sara go back to Karen’s apartment, to wrap things up and so Sara can return the framed photo ~ but her apartment is empty; Karen Bronte is gone. | |||||||

| "Listen closely, young Nottingham. It is written that no man has ever successfully worn the Witchblade, that only the chosen woman can wear it. And though I tried, for all my force of will, I could not keep it on my hand. The gauntlet burned me. Seared my flesh until I had to rip it from my wrist. But even my brief exposure was enough to bind me to it forever. To make me a part of it. To allow me to see some of what it sees, but not all. That is my blessing and my curse. I understand the way it thinks, I know what it wants...It wants something...that cannot be explained in words. To know what it wants, one must directly experience the Witchblade." --Kenneth Irons speaking to Ian Nottingham as a young boy, in Parallax |
