| Thanks to Lark! Episode 9 ~ Apprehension (continued): Dante tells Orlinsky he has good news regarding a certain pain-in-the-ass bitch... Jim Pezzini goes on: they rule by intimidation, they abuse the badge, when they use the .45 rounds, their crimes are ignored; he says they are in their Renaissance, led by a group of young thugs, and one leader is Bruno Dante, a very scary individual indeed. Sara is floored. Dante says he warned them to stay away from her, she won't be "persuaded". Pezzini continues that the Bulls go very high up the ranks, too far for him to handle the situation internally. Dante says he has aggressively recruited "an inside man"; he thinks the problem will be solved soon. Jake comes into the office, and a startled Sara quickly turns off the VCR. She goes out to help him with the prostitutes. Irons ponders aloud before the fire in his study... titillation... enigma... seduction... he asks Ian, what do these words have in common? He circles Ian slowly and continues... intimidation... temptation... abandonment... rejection... opposition... and he lashes at Nottingham from behind with a quirt: Ian stops it immediately, much to Irons satisfaction. Irons asks Ian, what is he talking about? Ian responds, "These are all stratagems for controlling Sara" "No", corrects Irons, "for containing her." He envisioned her joining his family and Ian serving them both, Ian says he still hopes for that; Irons says Ian's love her for is obvious, he says she is a lioness, not a pet, "invaluable for the blood that courses through her veins." Ian responds the blood is what Irons covets, and he lowers his eyes, submissive again. A hooker harasses Jake to let her leave, Sara backs her down, and Jake asks how she does that, how does she find the truth when everyone lies, and she responds "Diogenes" - this is the response her father gave her to the same question. She tells Jake to look him up. Sara sees the discomfort of a blonde hooker as the White Bulls return to the precinct, cracking jokes as they come in, Dante, Orlinsky, and Burgess, and Sara flashes to the murder of Prospero McQueen: she can see the murderer's back, but not his face, and the hooker was at the scene. Sara tells Jake to cut them all loose, except for the little blonde, put her in holding, she has someone to go see. Jake is incredulous, at this hour? Sara leaves him there. She goes to Joe Siri's, he is shocked, why is she there, as soon as she mentions the Bulls, he tries to push her out of his apartment. His wife asks who is coming so late, he lies it's a pizza delivery boy, he's lost, and Sara presses Joe, what's going on? He tells her to stay out of it, stay away from it, live to retirement it's great, Sara pleads for his help, and he refuses. Marie comes out of the bedroom and stops short when she sees Sara, and Sara apologizes and leaves. The fear on Marie's face is plain, she knows why Sara was there. Early in the morning Sara brings coffee to Talismaniac's office, and Danny is there, he wants to smell the coffee, he misses it. He tells Sara to read the book of changes by Y-Ching, she could use it. She yells at him for being dead, there's no one alive she can trust, and he says there is one person: Sara demands of him, "Who?" as Gabriel opens the door. He teases her about talking to herself as she comes in. She asks him about the White Bulls, and Gabriel hesitates before telling her he has a conspiracy theory client who asks for police brutality memorabilia. He lists items the client has asked for, like the night stick used to beat up Rodney King, and he has offered Gabriel $10,000 for one of the .45 rounds the White Bulls use. Sara warns Gabriel to stay away from this one, it's dangerous and he should be very afraid. Dante asks Jake what does Sara care about most? He explains to Jake that her temper is her Achilles heel, and if she loses things she cares about, she'll make mistakes. Jake says she loves her bike, and Dante asks him to go on... In the interrogation booth, Sara narrates to the hooker Charleyne: she is sympathetic, Prospero probably saved her when she was a runaway, she knew about his money, his girls - and she knew who he paid off. Charleyne pleads to them to let her go, she's afraid, Sara realizes the cop who shot the pimp is in the precinct. Jake is amazed, she got the truth again, and he asks Sara to tell him what is going on? She says she can't tell him there, and Jake asks where? Her cell rings, it's Joe Siri, Marie has gone to her sister's, come over now and be careful; Sara tells Jake to meet her at eight at the restaurant around the corner from her, she'll tell him everything. Joe Siri tells Sara the White Bulls killed Jim Pezzini. Sara is confused, Tommy Gallo did it, but Joe explains it was a contract hit. He shows Sara the shell casing from Gallo's gun, he found it at the scene, and he kept his mouth shut because he knew he'd be killed if he tried to call them on it. Sara is appalled, why didn't Joe ever come forward like her father did, and Joe says Jim Pezzini was a better man. She tells Joe she will absolve him if he tells her one more thing: did Bruno Dante order the hit? Joe nods. She leaves. She meets Jake at the restaurant, and he tells her Diogenes was a Greek philosopher who walked around with a lantern in the daylight looking for an honest man. Sara tells Jake he only found one in a mirror, and Jake interprets, find an honest man by being one. Sara tells Jake about the White Bulls - she says they killed her father, and Jake is suddenly taken aback. As she talks, Tommy Burgess drives by in his truck, and spying Sara's bike in an alley, runs it over. Sara tells Jake what she knows, and Jake assures her she can trust him. He asks for the video, he thinks maybe they should go to the media. And he says she's staying at his place, she'll be safe with him, they can't get her without getting him first, and she is grateful. They walk outside, and Sara chats contentedly to her partner about honesty... and then sees her smashed bike. Jake offers false sympathy, and Sara falls into his embrace, devastated. Jake smiles, she has finally turned to him, he's in heaven. Continued on next page |
