Lost Star Takes 'Pulse' Over 'Breed' |
|
| After dying a painful death on ABC's drama Lost, Ian Somerhalder will take his chances with a horror flick. The 26-year-old actor is in talks to star in the Dimension Films remake of the Japanese thriller "Pulse," according to The Hollywood Reporter. The story centers on a creepy website that seemingly allows users to interact with the dead. A supernatural force begins taking over the lives of those who log on, thanks to a college computer hacker who unwittingly let something evil cross over. Now, a group of college students must solve the mystery before more people are lost. Veronica Mars star Kristen Bell and newcomer Steve Talley will star alongside Somerhalder. Commercial director Jim Sonzero will make his directorial debut on the project, based on a script by horror master Wes Craven and rewritten by Vince Gilligan. Shooting will begin in early summer in Romania. Besides playing the ill-fated Boone in Lost, Somerhalder has appeared on the big screen in "Life As a House" and "The Rules of Attraction." In other horror news, Somerhalder was announced to star in the indie project "The Breed," but had dropped out. Instead, Michelle Rodriguez, Taryn Manning, Oliver Hudson, Hill Harper and Eric Lively will star as five friends vacationing on a remote island who discover that they're not alone. A group of genetically enhanced dogs befriend them, but are more intelligent and bloodthirsty than they first appear. Nick Mastandrea will make his directorial debut on the project that horror master Wes Craven is producing. Production begins Monday, April 18 in South Africa. ZAP2it 4/15/05 |
