Dominic Monaghan was born on December 8, 1976 in Berlin, Germany; he speaks German fluently. His mother is a nurse, his father a teacher, and Dominic has one older brother. His family moved to England when he was 12.  Dom's jobs prior to acting included sorting mail at the post office, and working as a saute chef at a place called Quincey's in Didsbury, Manchester, England.  His passions include surfing, writing, music, and soccer. Dominic got his start on British television, in shows like Hetty Wainthropp Investigates, Monsignor Renard, and This Is Personal: The Hunt for the Yorkshire Ripper.  He appeared in a few other productions, stage, film and TV, but of course his most high exposure role to date is that of hobbit Meriadoc 'Merry' Brandybuck, on the acclaimed Lord of the Rings film triology, He and co-star, Evangeline Lilly, are in a relationhsip.
