CBS' 'Elvis' Mini Has Burning Love for McGowan
Contrary to what you may have heard, it takes a hot lady to warm up any hunka hunka burning love. Rose McGowan is close to signing on to CBS' "Elvis" biopic, playing Ann-Margret, one of several women to stir things up with the King of Rock 'n' Roll.

Ann-Margret was 23-years-old when she co-starred with Elvis Presley in 1964's "Viva Las Vegas." The Swedish-born singer and the Mississippi-born rocker began a romantic relationship and ultimately a life-long friendship. Ann-Margret, a two-time Oscar nominated actress, attended Presley's 1977 funeral in Memphis.

McGowan, who plays Paige Matthews on The WB's
Charmed, also has a history of dating rock stars, including a mult-year engagement to Brian Warner, often known as Marilyn Manson. Other credits for the actress range from the features "Scream" and "Jawbreaker" to the Pauly Shore classics "Encino Man" and "Bio-Dome."

CBS held open auditions for an actor to play The King, but the winner of the coveted part has yet to be announced. The only confirmed cast member is Randy Quaid, who will play the crucial role of Presley's manager Colonel Tom Parker, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Viva McGowan - Actress Co-Stars in CBS' Elvis Pic
Rose McGowan [Charmed] is in negotiations to star in the CBS miniseries "Elvis," a biopic of the King of Rock 'n' Roll.

McGowan will play Ann-Margret, Elvis Presley's co-star in the 1964 film "Viva Las Vegas," whose romance with the King during and after the making of the film created a stir and put a strain on his relationship with future wife Priscilla Beaulieu.

Ann-Margret, an Oscar-nominated actress and accomplished singer who was often referred as the female Elvis for her energetic performances, went on to become lifelong friends with Presley, with the two sending each other gifts and attending each other's shows until his death in 1977. She also attended Presley's funeral in Memphis.

CBS has yet to cast Elvis, despite a nationwide talent search. Randy Quaid was previously tapped to play Presley's manager "Colonel" Tom Parker.
