Cole Turner was a district attorney with an alter-ego - the demon Balthezor [Note: scroll down to see more about the actor who plays the demon].  Cole was half-demon and half-human, sent to destroy the Charmed Ones.  His grand plan included using Phoebe Halliwell to get into the inner sactum and lives of the three witches, but instead he wound up falling in love with her.  The two embarked on an intense,  whirlwind love-affair, culminating in their marriage, but everything went down hill quickly, as Cole - who had struggled to be good, for Phoebe and their love, turned again to the darker side of his persona. It became a love/hate relationship for the Halliwell witch. Ultimately, they were divorced, Phoebe came down on the side of "hate ," and actually vanquished her former husband and love of her life.

Julian McMahon is an Australian native, who studied law at the University of Sydney, but left after a year when he first became bored and became a model, then won a lead role in The Power, The Passion, an Aussie series similar to the old Dynasty series.  Julian has one older and one younger sister, and his father is the late Sir William McMahon, a former Prime Minister of Australia, and his mother is Lady Sonia McMahon.  Julian has been married and divorced twice. His first marriage, to actress Dannii Minogue -yes, pop star Kylie's sister- lasted from 1994 to 1995, and his second, to Baywatch's Brooke Burns, lasted only a little longer, from the end of 1999 to 2001. He has one child; he and Brooke have a daughter, Madison, born in June 2000.  Julian has appeared in several productions, on stage, in television and feature films, including a stint on the soap Another World. Julian is currently starring in the FX hit Nip/Tuck. Julian is 6'2', and is apparently a sports fan, who enjoys surfing and cooking.

Cole's demon half, Balthezor, is portrayed by 6'4" actor Michael Bailey Smith.  Michael was an Air Force brat, who travelled around the world and graduated from high school in Tehran, Iran.  He served in the 82nd Airborne Division as a paratrooper, and attended college at Eastern Michigan University where his athletic talents earned him a spot as a free agent with the Dallas Cowboys football team.  After a career-ending knee injury, Michael moved to San Diego and became a competitive bodybuilder.  Michael stumbled upon acting when he accompanied a friend to an audition for A Nightmare On Elm Street 5: The Dream Child (1989), where he landed the role of "Super Freddy," and has continued to work in acting, specializing in roles that take best advantage of his size and strength.  Michael is married with two children.
