Buffy Co-Star Joins ABC's Game
After failing to find a weekly television home with a comedy pilot last fall, Buffy the Vampire Slayer co-star Alyson Hannigan is ready to return to the small screen on ABC's In the Game. That comedy, which stars Jennifer Love Hewitt and Ed O'Neill, has already been slated for ABC's schedule at some point this spring.
In the Game focuses on an up-and-coming sports television producer (Hewitt) who accidentally becomes an on-camera star. O'Neill plays the show's executive producer and, according to The Hollywood Reporter, Hannigan will appear as Hewitt's best friend.
Soon after ending her run as the increasingly powerful Willow Rosenberg on The WB and UPN's cult favorite, Hannigan signed a development deal with NBC. The actress toplined a comedy about a mismatched pair of siblings, but after some recasting and production delays, the pilot couldn't find a place in NBC's schedule.
In addition to her lengthy and lauded run on Buffy, Hannigan is best known for her appearances in the "American Pie" trilogy. Last year she finished a London stage run as Sally in an adaptation of "When Harry Met Sally..."
