Carpenter Brings Charisma to UPN Pilot
Although it's late in the development season, UPN is still switching things up. The network has ordered a new comedy pilot starring former
Angel co-star Charisma Carpenter and pulled a comedy from executive producer Kate Hudson.
Carpenter will star in an untitled comedy from Andrew Secunda, a former
Late Night with Conan O'Brien writer. The series focuses on one of those prototypical up-tight career-minded single women (Carpenter) and her brother (Tyler Labine), the kind of fun-loving sibling sitcoms love.

Secunda is co-executive producing the pilot and wrote the script. Adam Chase and Warren Littlefield will serve as executive producers, while television veteran James Widdoes ("8 Simple Rules") will direct.

Carpenter played stuck-up cheerleader Cordelia Chase on
Buffy the Vampire Slayer from 1997-99 and then migrated with David Boreanaz to spinoff Angel, where the character evolved and deepened over several seasons. Carpenter only appeared on one episode of Angel this season.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, UPN has also pulled the plug on I Do, I Did, Now What? about a married couple dealing with their relationship after the honeymoon. Hudson ("Almost Famous") was executive producing along with Dan Cohen, F.J. Pratt (
Less than Perfect, Frasier), Shanna Tyndall Nussbaum and Jay Cohen.
