In 1938, Orson Wells broadcast the infamous "War of the Worlds", based on H.G. Wells' novel, an alien invasion radio performance that was so realistic, many people who hadn't heard the opening thought an aggressive invasion from Martians was actually occurring, and panic ensued. This story has since been presented in film format, notably in 1953, and is being re-made for a projected 2005 release, with Tom Cruise in the lead, as well as Taken's Dakota Fanning. In the decades that followed, thousands of real sightings were reported, and photos taken. In July of 1947, there was a crash of some sort in the desert outside the little town of Roswell, New Mexico. Witnesses came forward to say that the government covered up the truth about this site, and they are insistent that the crash was of an alien ship, and both debris and bodies -- little gray bodies -- were recovered by the United States government, who took over the site soon after the crash was reported. Even more disturbing, is the possbility that these creatures were not all dead, but were spirited away, and, of course, never seen again. The US government has denied all these allegations, and various stories, like fallen weather balloons, have been offered as explanations of the wreckage found in Roswell, but Roswell has become identified with aliens, but any desert, with it's dark skies, is ideal for UFO-viewing.
In the 1950's, the United States government apparently took these sightings seriously enough to start investigating them. There is still a top-secret federal base, located in the desert of Nevada, known as Area 51. Most of us would know that name as we do Roswell - from the many television shows, films, and books that incorporate aliens in their storyline. Groom Lake, where this base is located, is in grid number 51 of the Nevada Test Sites, which is how Area 51 came by it's name. The US governement says that this is just one of many places that top secret aircraft are developed and tested. Others, including former employees, claim that this site holds UFO debris, alien bodies, and is actually the place top secret alien technologies are studied, copied and tested. Area 51 is extremely well protected, by heavily armed military personnel; those coming too close to it's fences are turned away, or even arrested. The base, which occupies about 150 square miles, is surrounded by 9,000 acres of land also owned by the Air Force, preventing people from getting close enough for any lengthy scrutiny. Although the base was established several decades ago, the Air Force only conceded the base's exsistence in August 1994, saying they have "facilities within the complex near the dry lakebed of Groom Lake used for testing, training technologies, operations and systems critical to the effectiveness of U. S. military forces." Hmm... top secret base for our military? or super-secret installation holding all the alien secrets the US government has been holding and experimenting with...or on ? Will we ever know for sure?

Are you an alien abductee? If there is truth to alien abduction, and the numbers are to be believed, there are thousands, perhaps tens of thousands of us that have been abducted, perhaps once, perhaps multiple times. This is a list of some common indicators shared by most UFO abductees:
4 Have had unexplainable missing or lost time of one hour or more
4 Have been paralyzed in bed with a being in bedroom
4 Have unusual scars or marks with no possible explanation on how they were received (small scoop indentation, straight line scar, triangular marks, scars in roof of mouth, in nose, behind or in ears, etc.)
4 Have seen balls of light or flashes of light in home or other locations
4 Have a memory of flying through the air which could not be a dream, or many dreams involving flying.
4 Have a strong "marker memory" that will not go away (i.e.: an alien face, an examination, a needle, a table, a strange skinny baby, etc.)
4 Have seen beams of light outside home, or come into room through a window
4 Have had many dreams of UFOs, beams of light, or alien beings
4 Have had a UFO sighting or multiple sightings in their life
4 Have a cosmic awareness, an interest in ecology, environment, vegetarianism, or are very socially conscious
4 Have a strong sense of having a mission or important task to perform, without knowing where this compulsion is coming from
4 Have a secret feeling that they are "special" or "chosen," somehow
4 Have had unexplainable events occur in their life, and felt strangely anxious afterwards
4 Have had several strange psychic experiences - such as knowing that something is going to happen before it happens
4 [Women only, obviously] Have had false pregnancy or missing fetus (pregnant, and then not)
4 Have awoken in another place than where they went to sleep, or don't remember ever going to sleep (i.e. waking up in your car)
4 Have had a dream of eyes such as animal eyes (like an owl or deer). Also may have a fear of eyes
4 Have strong reaction to pictures from films or pictures of aliens; either an aversion to or drawn to
4 Have inexplicably strong fears or phobias. (i.e. heights, snakes, spiders, large insects, certain sounds, bright lights, personal security, being alone)
4 Have experienced self-esteem problem much of your life
4 Have seen someone with them become paralyzed, motionless, or frozen in time, especially someone they sleep with
4 Have a memory of having a special place with spiritual significance, when young
4 Have had, at any time, blood or strange stain on sheet or pillow, with no explanation of how it got there
4 Have an interest in the subject of UFO sightings or aliens, perhaps compelled to read about it a lot
4 Have an extreme aversion towards the subject of UFO's or aliens - don't want to talk about it.
4 Have been suddenly compelled to drive or walk to an out of the way or unknown area
4 Have the feeling of being watched much of the time, especially at night
4 Have had dreams of passing through a closed window or solid wall
4 Have seen a strange fog or haze that should not be there
4 Have heard strange humming or pulsing sounds, and could not identify the source
4 Have had unusual nose bleeds
4 Have awoken with soreness in genitals which can not be explained
4 Have had electronics around you go haywire or oddly malfunction with no explanation
4 Have an unusual fear of doctors or tend to avoid medical treatment
4 Have insomnia or sleep disorders
4 Have had dreams of doctors or medical procedures
4 Have frequent or sporadic headaches, especially in the sinus, behind one eye, or in one ear
4 Have the feeling that they are going crazy for even thinking about these sorts of things
4 Have had paranormal or psychic experiences, including intuition
4 Have been prone to compulsive or addictive behavior
4 Have channeled telepathic messages from extraterrestrials, or have simply heard an external voice in your head, speaking to you, perhaps instructing or guiding you
4 Have been afraid of their closet, now or as a child
4 Have to sleep against the wall or must sleep with bed against a wall
4 Have a fear that they must be very vigilant or they will be taken away by "someone"
4 Have a difficult time trusting other people, especially authority figures
4 Have had dreams of destruction or catastrophe
4 Have the feeling they're not supposed to talk about these things, or should not talk about them
4 Have experienced many things in this list, and recall their children or parents speaking of similar experiences on occasion
4 Have tried to resolve these types of problems with little or no success.
4 Have many of these traits but can't remember anything about an abduction or alien encounter.
